Tony Blair Is NOT Welcome To Malaysia Unless It’s To Stand Trial For The War Crimes He Stands Accused Of Petition to Malaysian People, Parliament, Courts and Immigration Service.

If you live in Malaysia, or if there’s just something about the slaughter of people you just can’t accept, you might like to sign this:
Tony Blair Is NOT Welcome To Malaysia Unless It’s To Stand Trial For The War Crimes He Stands Accused Of Petition to Malaysian People, Parliament, Courts and Immigration Service.
We the undersigned declare Tony Blair is:
a) A suspected war criminal.
b) Not immune from prosecution for his alleged crimes.
c) Jointly responsible for the deaths of over a million innocent civilians.
d) Not welcome in Malaysia unless it’s to enter a court of international law to be tried for the war crimes and crimes against humanity for which he stands accused.
Signatories call for:
 i) The Malaysian Authorities to declare Tony Blair “persona non grata”, thereby refusing him entry into its territory (scheduled between 23rd to 25th April 2010).
ii) Richard Tan, CEO of “Success Resources”, and upon the National Achievers Congress (NAC) to withdraw their shameful invitation to Tony Blair to speak at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, allowing Blair to make financial gains from his deadly decisions.
PLEASE PASS ON TO ALL.

From Akmar
What is this all about?
Well, to put it in a simpler sentence, Success Resources is holding  National Achievers Congress (NAC) at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre in April 2010 and guess what, they are inviting Tony Blair as their speaker!
This will mean that the man who thought he managed to deceive the world by sending troops to unnecessary countries  (read Iraq and Afghanistan) and committed massive murder will be giving a talk on "achievers".
Bizarre enough?
And so, this petition calls for the declaration of Tony Blair as "persona non grata" thus denying him entry into Malaysia and preventing him from speaking in the congress. The petition also demand that Success Resources withdraw their invitation to Blair as a speaker in their congress.

Apabila Wanita Tak Tahu Memasak

Salam.
I think i rarely post a Malay language post, but i got this article from an IMU senior's blog. I dont have the time to translate it into English, plus it may not be original if i translate it.
I might just put in some of my opinion in it.
So i guess i'd better just copy paste it.
Enjoy... =)

"Tak
confident la. Takut nanti kalau baca al-Fatihah tak betul, siapa susah?"
"Ilmu Tajwid kurang lagi la.."
"Bini aku lagi pandai tajwid.

Jika wanita disuruh belajar, apa salahnya lelaki!

Blinded by the media

The Malaysian media is totally dependent on the so-called wire services (Reuters, AP, AFP, etc) for foreign news. As a result there has been no report on the Israeli desecration of the al-Aqsa mosque and the beating up of Palestinian Muslims who wanted to pray there.

I don't think the Malaysian media is deliberately blacking out news which are not in favour of Israel but if they depend solely on the wire services they would always be unfair to the victims of Israeli brutalities

We read very little about the blockade of Gaza and the sufferings of the people there.

What Israel is doing is illegal, but such is the control that Israel exercises on the international media that it can actually openly commit genocide and nothing would happen to it.

These are the people whom we had sympathised with because the Nazis of Germany tried to wipe out.

Now they are the ones doing the very thing they, or their forebears had suffered from in the past.

Akmar says:
Well, this is not my writing.
Whose?
Dr M's. (Malaysians, pls know who he is)
I'm merely copying and pasting it here.
Still want to stay blinded?

p/s:
Quoting Dr M DOESN'T make me a pro-govt. And saying this doesnt make me a pro-opposition. I prefer the truth and corruption free, wherever they may come from (and i guess many of us will know where they WONT come from). =P

Don't Israel's nuclear weapons count?

The Sun 30 Sept 09
by Yasmin Alibhai-Brown

LEADERS of the rich nations have turned their fire on Iran, quite rightly. Last week came news
that the Islamic Republic had been building a secret uranium enrichment plant near Qom. Then the junta fired test missiles. Unlike Iraq under Saddam, there are, in Iran, nuclear developments
that could lead to weapons of mass destruction. It is not an immediate but a future danger, say credible intelligence experts and indeed Barack Obama himself.

Suddenly the president has got uncharacteristically belligerent, instructing Iran to open up all its nuclear facilities for inspection if it wants to avoid “a path that is going to lead us to confrontation”. In May, Obama stood in Washington with the hawkish Benjamin Netanyahu, who we were told was there to seek assurances that there would be no shift from the conventional US position of total and unconditional support for Israel’s policies right or wrong, known and clandestine.

The US, China, Britain, France, Russia and Germany meet in Geneva tomorrow and, by that time, Iran will be expected to submit to international scrutiny. As a supporter of the now crushed and broken reformers in Iran, I back the ultimatum to the fanatic and bellicose Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. But what about that camel in the room? The one we all see but can’t point out? What about the only power in the Middle East, also fanatic and aggressive, which has a stockpile of weapons enough to obliterate the region? Listen people, we need to talk about Israel. And soon. Like now.

I have been in contact with a young Iranian woman who wore a green scarf and lipstick on the streets of Teheran, whose uncle is being tortured in prison there for demonstrating against the results of the election. Somehow she escaped from the country and is in Britain briefl y before going on to the US to make a new life. Let us call her M.

Nobody could hate Ahmadinejad more than M; she hates the whole regime, the treacherous leaders who betrayed the people. When she speaks she often gets asthmatic. But yet, but yet, she finds her passions rising for her country this week because of fears of military strikes by Israel and the manifestly unfair way that Israel is indulged. “I will go back if they attack my country, even if they put me to jail,” M says. “That is my duty. Israel is the enemy of peace and America gives them money to get more arms. I don’t want Iran to have these terrible weapons, but Israel must also be stopped.”

The big powers are moving tentatively towards global de-nuclearisation, taking small but significant steps to show they do want everyone to pitch in. Obama’s decision to shelve the European defence missile programme shows serious intent, so too Gordon Brown’s announcement that Britain would cut down from four to three its Trident missile-carrying submarines. There was a moment this spring, albeit fleeting, when Rose Gottemoeller, an assistant secretary of state and Washington’s chief nuclear arms negotiator, asked Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, thus breaking the 40-year-old silence and US complicity in its accumulated, un-inspected arsenal. Her reasonable appeal provoked apoplexy in a nation that assumes special, indeed exceptional, treatment.

In the 1960s, Israel successfully hid its weapons from US inspectors. In 1986, Israeli nuclear technical assistant Mordechai Vanunu revealed information about the concealed stockpiles and has been punished ever since. Hubristic Israel no longer cares to deny that it has hundreds of atom and hydrogen bombs and devastating biological “tools”. Netanyahu has been warning he will destroy the Iranian sites if his country feels the danger is real. Now he has just what he wanted, another crisis in the Middle East, to keep up the idea of plucky, vulnerable, endangered little Israel.

Alarmingly, even the liberal Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz is on his side. History has made too many Israelis fear all humanity in perpetuity and that fear brings out the worst in that nation. It has predictably rejected the long, sober, unbiased UN report on the last assault on Gaza chaired by Richard Goldstone. He accused Hamas of crimes against Jewish civilians and charged Israel with grave crimes, the breaking of the Geneva convention, punishing and terrorising unarmed civilians.

I have some images of these victims sent to me by a Jewish pro-Palestinian activist. Children turned to ash, blistered mothers weeping, and on and on. There still is no respite for the hungry and dying in Gaza. If Israel can mete out such treatment and not be called to account, just think what the state feels entitled to do to Iran.

The Israeli human rights activist Gideon Spiro bravely asks that his country be subject to the same rules as Iran and all others in the Middle East: “Rein in Israel, compel it to accept a regime of nuclear disarmament and oblige it to open all nuclear, biological and chemical facilities and missile sites to international inspection.” The US has leverage because it maintains and funds Israel. If Obama shies away from this, there can be no moral justification to go for Iran or North Korea or any other rogue state. And the leader whose election and dreams gave hope to millions thereby hastens the end of the world. – The Independent

Akmar says:

IMU has a corner for free copies of The Sun newspaper. And everyday i'll take a copy for myself. What i have been observing so far is The Sun looks like a pro-Israel newspaper. Sorry to say that, but that's my opinion. It's up to the readers whether or not to trust.

My arguments are they always feature brief news abt the imaginary country; be it the PM of Israel admitted to the hosp, or Israel doesn't want to cancel their invasion plan into Palestine. All the news are written such that ignorant readers will feel that Israel is just like any other country in the world, as The Sun did not provide ANY counter-argument to say that Israel is not a country that has a right to exist.

But luckily, this piece of article was published.
And I love it.
But that doesnt mean i'll change my view towards The Sun.

Israel, an imaginary country built on the land of the Palestinians, doing purely evil things on the oppressed and being backed up by the-so-called most powerful nation on earth, the Americans.

Am i too direct?
Perhaps.

But that's the truth....

Why??

___________________________________________________________

Why a Jew can grow his beard in order to practice his faith,

but when a Muslim does the same, he is an extremist and a terrorist?!

Why a nun can be covered from head to toe,

but when Muslim girls do the same, they are said as being oppressed?

When a western mum stays at home to look after her house an kids, she is respected because she sacrificed herself,

but when a Muslim woman do the same by her will, they say "She needs to be liberated!"?!

Any girl can go to university wearing what she wills and still have her rights and freedom,

But when a Muslim girl wears a hijab, they prevent her from entering her university?

When a child dedicates himself to a subject, he has potential

But when he dedicates himself to Islam, people say he is hopeless?!

Why???
When a Christian or a Jew kills someone, the religion is not mentioned,
but when a Muslim is charged for a crime, it is Islam that goes to trial?!

When someone sacrifices himself to keep others alive, he is noble and all respect him,

but when a Palestinian does that to save his father being killed, his brother's arm being broken, his mother being raped, his house being demolished, and his mosque being violated - he gets the title of a terrorist?! Why?
Because he is a Muslim?

Why when there is a trouble we accept any solution,
but if the solution lies in Islam, we refuse to take a look at it?

When someone drives a perfect car in a bad way, no one blames the car,

but when any Muslims made a mistake or treats people in a bad manner - people say "Islam is the reason!" ?!

Without looking to the tradition of Islam, people believe what the newspaper say,

but question what the Quran says?!

Study: Poverty fueling Muslim tension with West

http://malaysia.news.yahoo.com/ap/20090508/twl-eu-muslim-integration-c8e2916.html

By DAVID STRINGER,Associated Press Writer AP - Friday, May 8

LONDON - Joblessness and poverty are a more potent source of tension between Muslims and wider European and U.S. society than religious differences, one of the first major studies of Muslim integration since the Sept. 11 terror attacks claimed on Thursday.

Attacks by Islamic extremists on the United States and European capitals such as Madrid and London have sparked debate on whether a failure of Muslims to integrate into Western society has fueled extremism.

But a study of around 30,000 people in 27 countries by the Gallup polling company claims non-Muslims _ including the public and lawmakers _ have misunderstood the attitudes of most Muslims in the West, stifling attempts to promote understanding.

These Muslims are more patriotic, more tolerant and more likely to reject violence than the rest of Western society believes they are, the study claims. It suggests most European Muslims, for example, are as happy as other Europeans to live alongside people of other faiths and ethnic backgrounds, and share broadly similar views with their neighbors.

The findings appear to contradict the impression created by angry protests across Europe following the 2005 publication in Denmark of 12 cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, and recent rallies in which small groups of British Muslims have disrupted homecoming parades for soldiers returning from Iraq.

But Dalia Mogahed, executive director of the London and New York-based Gallup Center for Muslim Studies and a faith adviser to U.S. President Barack Obama, said the survey shows most Muslims welcome closer ties to the rest of society. The study focused chiefly on European Muslims, and the mistaken perceptions about their attitudes in wider European society.

"Many of the assumptions about Muslims and integration couldn't be more wide of the mark," she said. "European Muslims want to be part of the wider community and contribute to society."

The study did not produce detailed data on attitudes of American Muslims on this subject. But Mogahed said that in the United States Muslims enjoy relatively good relations with the rest of society, and suffer less from economic inequality.

Despite their desire to belong, only a small number of Muslims questioned in Britain, for example _ 10 percent _ consider themselves integrated into British society. That compares to 46 percent of Muslims in France and 35 percent in Germany.

The global economic crisis could exacerbate such issues, with competition for jobs and resources adding stress to race relations, the study claimed.

Researchers found 38 percent of British Muslims said they had a job, much lower than the figure for the British general public _ 62 percent _ and lower than Muslims in Germany or France, where 53 percent and 45 percent respectively said they were employed. No figures were compiled for the United States.

"Economic integration may become more precarious in light of the current financial crisis affecting Europe," Mogahed said.

Muslims questioned by Gallup were pessimistic about their prospects. It found 71 percent of Britain's Muslims considered themselves to be struggling to get by, as did 56 percent of Muslims questioned in the United States. Research for the study was conducted in mid-2008, before the full impact of the current financial crisis hit.

"It's not about faith, it's not about ethnicity. The key thing that divides people is poverty and depravation," said Mohammed Shafiq, of the British Muslim organization the Ramadhan Foundation.

British government research into radicalization also has highlighted joblessness and low pay as among factors that can push people toward extremism. Those with poor prospects can look to violent extremism to improve their sense of achievement and status, according to the research by security officials.

Another key finding of the study was that Muslims don't prioritize their faith over patriotism, Mogahed said.

Attempts to create a greater sense of national identity among Muslims have been a key concern for European lawmakers, particularly in Britain _ where British-born Muslims have been behind several attempted terror attacks since 2001.

Four suicide bombers who killed 52 commuters and themselves in an attack on London's subway and bus network on July 7, 2005 were Muslims born or raised in Britain _ three with family ties to Pakistan.

The study found that 77 percent of British Muslims feel a strong sense of British identity, compared to 50 percent of the country's non-Muslims. In France, around half of Muslims and non-Muslims say they feel a strong sense of patriotism.

Muslims account for around 3 percent, or 2 million people out of Britain's 60 million population. In France, Muslims represent almost 8 percent _ or 5 million people of the population of 65 million. In Germany they make up 4 percent _ or 3.3 million Muslims out of 82 million inhabitants.

Estimates of the U.S. Muslim population vary dramatically from 2 million to 6 million _ and beyond.

Gallup conducted multiple surveys in 27 countries in 2008. Polls of the general public typically questioned around 1,000 people, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. The company said the polls of Muslims involved samples of 500 people, with a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.

Researchers interviewed Muslims and non-Muslims in Norway, France, Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Canada, Israel, the U.S., Italy, India, South Africa, Burkina Faso, Brazil, Ethiopia, Mali, Chad, Malaysia, Tanzania, Niger, Mauritania, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Djibouti and Bangladesh.

Assalammualaikum.

Ok, I’m posting this news, not because I agree with it, neither I disagree with it.

The headline captured my attention few weeks ago (this is an old news, I haven’t had the time to write abt it).

And I became more interested in this study as they claimed the violent attack on WTC 8 yrs back were done by Muslim extremists.

They surely do not know the fact.

I am sure that the 9-11 attack was not by Muslims…

It was a conspiracy to give excuse for the US to attack Afghanistan.

They were a lot of movies and evidence proving that the attack is not by Muslims and yet this study is claiming those attacks were. I straight away know that this study is a one-sided study.

As for the angry responses by the Muslims in German, that is a natural act.

If people all around the world is being praised for being angry when the apartheid is carried in Africa, why should the Muslims being blamed for being angry that our beloved Prophet is being humiliated?

Well, some might just say, “come on… it is just a caricature… it’s not real.. geez… muslims do not have sense of humour”.

My reply will be:

“What if somebody draws a cartoon of ur mother sleeping with another man who is not your father, with another man waiting outside the door for his turn? And those men are far form handsome, they are bald, fat, tattoos all over the body but has deep pockets. And your mother’s name is written clearly, with family name in the picture and the picture is pasted all over the town”

Will you be angry or not?

Will you or will you not find the artist who drew the terrible picture and feel like stabbing him to death?

Will you or will you not try to defend the good name of your mother? You know your mother is far from being a prostitute. You know your mother is the best woman in the world.

So, the cartoon is not supposed to be there, at all!

See the point?

Rasulullah SAW is far from being a terrorist.

He is the gentlest man on Earth who received education directly from the Ultimate Creator.

He is incomparable to any other leader in this world.

Like a phoenix and a crow, there are incomparable.

Rasulullah SAW is not like any other successful leaders.

He’s a lot better than Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Mahatma Gandhi, or even Aung San Suu Kyi (of course, Husni Mubarak of Egypt, Tony Blair and Bush were never in my list of successful leaders)

Ok, I know I didn’t talk much abt the topic of the study itself; Relation between poverty and Muslim-West tension but at least I brought up the fact that Muslims are not terrorist!

MALAYSIA NEEDS TO PUBLISH 27,000 BOOK TITLES A YEAR

KUALA LUMPUR, April 5 (Bernama) -- Malaysia has to publish 27,000 book titles for general reading annually to become a knowledgeable developed nation and be on par with other developed countries, Malaysian Book Contractors Association president Hasan Hamzah said.

He said this being that in countries like Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden and Germany, the ratio was 1,000 book titles to one million population.

"Hence, Malaysia has to publish 27,000 book titles for its 27 million population a year, " he said, adding that such an effort would require an allocation of about RM300 million.

Hasan said Malaysia currently published only 10,000 book titles every year, which is still very far behind from that in other developed countries.

Most of the books found in Malaysia were imported ones, despite the country having many local intellectuals, including about 350,000 teachers and more than 40,000 lecturers or professors, who were capable of producing books for general reading, he added.

However, he said it was not because there were not many locally-published books that reading was not a habit among Malaysians.

"Actually, our society loves knowledge and they like to read. It is because the books are expensive to buy," he added.

Hasan said that for a book to be sold cheap, a publisher had to print at least 3,000 copies for each book title a year.

There would be an increase in demand for general books with support from the government through provision of special allocations for publication of books for general reading, he added.

Source: Yahoo News.

Akmar says:

As someone who loves to read and have been exposed to books and libraries since i was a little girl, as small as 4, 5 yrs old, i pretty much agree that Malaysian intellectuals need to produce more books for the development of the country.

On the price comment, i'd say that Malay novels are not so expensive compared to imported English novels. Eg, a Malay novel will cost abt RM20 while an imported English novel is about RM50. But children literature is very undeveloped. Children books are always expensive because they come with illustration, colour and sometimes hardcover.

But, i'm also surprised lately as i came across a lot of new books by local authors such as books on Palestine, Hamas, Iskandar Zulkarnain etc, which actually really grabbed my attention and interest.

Anyway, enough of giving my comment on the news extract, i need to get back to what i'm supposed to do now: my spinal cord injury research, and my post on the wall built by the Zionist to reduce the population of the Palestinians.
